The VLGA’s Mayoral Leadership Program provides mayors and deputy mayors with targeted knowledge to fulfil their roles with a high degree of competency.
The program is directly aligned with the mandatory regulatory requirements outlined by the Victorian Government in their new Governance and Integrity Regulations. In addition to upskilling, the program presents an opportunity for mayors and deputy mayors from across Victoria to foster and strengthen connections and establish support networks at the beginning of their term.
The Mayoral Leadership Program is designed to equip mayors and deputy mayors to lead their council, as well as to satisfy the legislative requirements to undertake induction training within one month of election to the role.
The VLGA Mayoral Leadership Program will best prepare mayors and deputy mayors to lead effectively throughout their term, looking at the role and relationships and the leadership skills required to support good governance.
It is mandatory for mayors and deputy mayors to undertake training at the commencement of each mayoral term.
While we know mayoral elections won’t be finalised until mid-November please register now under your Governance Manager or Mayors and Councillors office to secure your place.
We have intentionally capped numbers for this program to ensure all attendees can actively participate. This program is an interactive learning experience, where participants can not only learn from our highly credentialed facilitators but also learn from each other.
